Kerstin
Peters – Exhibition of Landscape Paintings
Title:
Beauty in Your Neighbourhood
Blackburn
Hamlet Library, in conjunction with Arteast, is proud to present an
exhibition of landscape paintings by Kerstin Peters. This solo
show is titled “Beauty in Your Neighbourhood” and runs from May
28 to July 23, 2016. In this exhibition,
Kerstin Peters demonstrates that you do not have to travel far to see
the beauty in nature. She sees the “neighbourhood” not
necessarily defined as only a local spot, but as a metaphor for the
beauty that is all around us.
Kerstin
Peters is part of several plein air painting groups, and many of her
paintings are from outings to places in Ontario and Quebec. These
trips, as well as paint-outs in the Ottawa area, were her inspiration
for this exhibition. As most of her plein air paintings are smaller,
the majority of the paintings exhibited were created in her studio.
This
exhibition encourages you to pay attention and look around you. You
will find that your neighbourhood has lots of beautiful spots to
offer.
This
is a unique opportunity for the public to enjoy, encourage and
support artists in their local community as well as the Blackburn
Hamlet Library.
Location:
Blackburn Hamlet branch of the Ottawa Public Library, 199 Glenpark,
Ottawa K1B 5B8
Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 10 - 20:30, Friday: 13:00 - 18:00, Saturday:

Communiqué
Arteast's
hard-copy, quarterly newsletter—Communiqué—is popular with our
members, but did you know that it is also available on our Web site
at http://arteastottawa.com/newsletter.php? A notification when a new
issue is released is communicated via the weekly Arteast Digest.
Posting of the Web version may be viewed in full dazzling colour, at
least two weeks before the print version (black and white) is
delivered by Canada Post. With rising postal costs, some members
have requested that they be removed from the mailing list for the
printed copy. Other advantages of going with the online Communiqué
are:
-
reduces printing and envelope costs;
- makes
Arteast more "green";
- no
more hunting for misplaced issues (Arteast's Web site has the current
and all back issues).
Printed
copies will be available at our monthly Grow With Art meetings and
the Promenade Arteast gallery at the Shenkman Arts Centre. If you
prefer to read the newsletter online, please e-mail us at
editor@arteastottawa.com to have your name removed from the
newsletter mailing list.
-
réduire les coûts de l’imprimé et de l’enveloppe;
-
Arteast plus ‘vert’;
-

Call
to
Artists
to Paint Murals on City of Ottawa Underpasses
Deadline:
June 6, 2016, 4pm
Budget:
$20,000 per mural
The City
of Ottawa is seeking artists to paint murals on two underpass walls
located at the Laurier Avenue underpasses at Colonel By Drive and the
Queen Elizabeth Parkway.
The City
chose to enhance these underpasses as they are key gateways to
downtown Ottawa and their proximity to the Rideau Canal. This year,
artists who submit mural designs are required to incorporate a
celebration of the canal’s historical and cultural significance.
Interested
artists can visit ottawa.ca
for more information on the application process and selection
criteria. Each wall will feature a community-inspired mural developed
by the selected artists based on public consultations. The designs
will be chosen by an independent panel of local artists and community
members.
Selected
artists will be announced in August and they will be expected to
complete the artwork by the end of September 2016.
Appel
aux artistes : murales dans les passages inférieurs
Date
