Season's Greetings - Elizabeth Twiss Exhibition of Paintings - Members Announcements - AOE Announcements

1. Season’s Greetings

There will be no digest between Christmas and the New Year, the next digest will be posted January 2nd.

2. Elizabeth Twiss - Exhibition of Paintings

St-Laurent Library, in conjunction with Arteast, is proud to present an exhibition of paintings by Ottawa artist Elizabeth Twiss (Howells Humm). This solo show is titled BESOTTED and runs from January 6 to March 31, 2017.

This series of paintings was inspired by drawings the artist did in life-drawing classes where the models would often use an exercise ball as a prop. Starting from the idea of the ball as an object of desire, BESOTTED explores the nature of the relationship between the person and the beloved. through different poses, the relationship between the model and the prop.

Elizabeth paints mainly in oils, creating depth by layering transparent pigments. She holds a Fine Arts Certificate from St Lawrence College and has many years experience working with watercolours.

This is a unique opportunity for the public to enjoy, encourage and support artists in their local community as well as the St-Laurent Library.

Location: St-Laurent branch of the Ottawa Public Library, 515 Côté Street, Ottawa K1K 0Z8
Hours: Monday to Thursday: 10 - 8:30, Friday: 1:00 - 6:00, Saturday: 10:00- 5:00, Sunday: closed

Season's Greetings - Arteast AGM/AGA - Communiqué - AOE Announcements

1. Season's Greetings

Please be advised that the next digest will only be sent January 3, 2016. However, we will try our best to answer any emails as soon as possible during the holiday season.

2. Arteast AGM/AGA

AGM ADVANCE NOTICE - 26 JANUARY 2016 - PLEASE MARK THIS IMPORTANT ARTEAST DATE IN YOUR CALENDAR!

Arteast will hold its Annual General Meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 26 January 2016, in the 2nd floor Gallery at 255 Centrum Blvd. in Orleans. I urge as many members as possible to attend this important annual meeting, which will include the election of some new Directors to Arteast's Board. A minimum of 20 members are required to be present for the conduct of general business, 30 if that business includes amendments to the by-laws. The agenda will be distributed to all members in early January. The AGM will be followed by the Grow With Art presentation (more details to follow at a later date).

3. Communiqué

Arteast's hard-copy, quarterly newsletter—Communiqué—is popular with our members, but did you know that it is also available on our Web site at http://arteastottawa.com/newsletter.php? A notification when a new issue is released is communicated via the weekly Arteast Digest. Posting of the Web version may be viewed in full dazzling colour, at least two weeks before the print version (black and white) is delivered by Canada Post. With rising postal costs, some members have requested that they be removed from the mailing list for the printed copy. Other advantages of going with the online Communiqué are:
- reduces printing and envelope costs;
- makes Arteast more "green";
- no more hunting for misplaced issues (Arteast's Web site has the current and all back issues).
Printed copies will be available at our monthly Grow With Art meetings and the Promenade Arteast gallery at the Shenkman Arts Centre. If you prefer to read the newsletter online, please e-mail us at editor@arteastottawa.com to have your name removed from the newsletter mailing list.

- réduire les coûts de l’imprimé et de l’enveloppe;
- Arteast plus ‘vert’;
