MAKE ARTEAST WORK FOR YOU BY WORKING FOR ARTEAST

Arteast is run solely by volunteers, members like you who contribute a little of their time to ensure that the organization can provide its many programs and run its exhibition venues. Without the help of its members in volunteer roles, Arteast would not be the dynamic organization it is. Don't forget that, by volunteering, you are not simply working for other members, you are working for yourself and making Arteast work for you. Make Arteast work for you by becoming a volunteer.

NEED FOR VOLUNTEER - VICE PRESIDENT

Arteast needs a member to step forward to take on the role of Vice President in January 2016. You can make an important contribution to your organization and help shape Arteast's future by joining the Executive in this capacity. The key purpose of the VP is to support the President and assist that person with their duties. t is not essential to have professional experience as an executive or a manager but you should have organizational skills, good judgement and common sense....attributes that we all develop from life's experiences. You have what it takes and your organization needs you for VP.

Vous pouvez être d’une grande contribution à votre association en vous joignant à l’Exécutif d’Arteast. Les fonctions clés du VP sont d’aider la Présidente et de l’assister dans ses responsabilités. Il n’est pas nécessaire d’avoir une formation professionnelle comme exécutif ou en gestion mais d’avoir des aptitudes d’organisation et d’un bon jugement… qualités que vous avez développées tout au cours de vos expériences de vie. Vous avez ce qu’il faut et votre association a besoin de vous comme VP.

From Katherine Jeans website:Through my career in film I have been conditioned to see the world at 24 frames a second.   To freeze a moment ultimately challenges my notion of what is perfection.
Through video installations and paintings I hope to challenge your thinking to look beyond just a beautiful flower or a scene from nature but to share with you an ephemeral moment that can never be repeated. Contradictions of this dimension will be the tension between what I perceive is perfection and what the viewer sees it as.  After all beauty is in the eye of the beholder.



3. St. Laurent Library: Jessie Parker’s Photo-based digital art image

St-Laurent-Library in conjunction with Arteast is proud to present an exhibition of photo based digital art works by Jessie Parker. This solo show is titled ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’ and runs from Oct 2, 2015 to January 8, 2016

Jessie Parker’s photographic images operate on both the physical and metaphorical levels pushing the envelope technically and visually. She goes beyond the “traditional” depiction of subjects, playing with what is real and what seems real but isn’t, the visionary and the transformative, re-presenting the world and inviting us to see otherwise. In these photo-based digital works she uses digital “paint” with a special “pen” used like a brush, applying digital “paint” stroke by stroke to the image in a technique which allows her to be inventive, interpretive and intuitive.

Maritime born and schooled, Jessie received her B.Ed and BFA from Mount Allison U., under Alex Colville, 1965. She has lived in Ottawa since 1979 and has shown extensively in Maritimes, Ontario, USA. She stock photos have been published worldwide since 1987. Her talks at the national Gallery pulled in record crowds in the ‘90s. Her recent eBooks for Visual Artists and new paperback are published by Amazon. She is a featured speaker at ArtSchoolFair 2015.

This is a unique opportunity for the public to enjoy, encourage and support artists in their local community as well as the St-Laurent Library.

4. Promenade Arteast: «25 ans…à voir en grand!» / “25 Years of Big Ideas!”

Célébrons 25 ans à voir en grand! 
Dans cette nouvelle exposition au centre des arts Shenkman, les membres d’Arteast vont présenter leurs œuvres grands formats!
 
Le public est invité au Vernissage de l’exposition «25 ans…à voir en grand!» présenté par les membres d’Arteast. La réception aura lieu le dimanche 27 septembre 2015, de 13h à 15h au niveau 1 du Centre des Arts Shenkman, 245 Boulevard Centrum, à Orléans.

Dans cette nouvelle exposition « 25 ans…à voir en grand! » Arteast est fière de présenter les œuvres grands formats de ses membres.
Dans ces œuvres, on y retrouve plusieurs médiums, ainsi qu’une grande variété de styles et de sujets, représentatifs de la haute qualité des artistes membres d’Arteast.


Arteast showcases the large format works of its members in the latest Exhibition at the Shenkman Arts Centre.

The public is invited to an opening reception for “25 Years of Big Ideas!” the latest show to be presented by Arteast.  The reception takes place on Sunday, September 27, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the ground floor of the Shenkman Arts Centre, 245 Centrum Boulevard, Orleans.
Arteast is pleased to present the diverse works of its members, comprising many subjects, styles and mediums.  These large format works of art showcase the varied media that Arteast members employ and are representative of the high quality of work produced by its membership.




5. Members Announcements

ArtSchoolFair 2015.

On October 31, and Nov 1, there is a new event, headed by David Lidbetter, called ARTSCHOOLFAIR. There are demos and workshops about various painting and drawing media, techniques, subjects. Also exhibits by various art supply companies and some arts organizations. Times are Saturday, Oct 31, 10am-5pm, and Sunday, Nov. 1, 9am to 5pm. The event is to be held at the Hellenic Centre, Prince of Wales Drive.


Artist speakers include Charles Spratt, Susan Ashcroft, David Jones, Jeff Banks, John Day, David Kearn, Jayne Couch, Matthew Collins, and others. Artist supply demos include Winsor and Newton, Golden Acrylics, Gablin, Faber Castell, Liquitex.


The only seminar/lecture as a business talk is “Money Smarts for Visual Artists” by Arteast member Jessie Parker. The lecture includes some juicy critical tidbits from her eBook series plus some surprising bonuses about artist estate issues. One bonus is about the new legislation just in effect for the first time this year. The other bonus about a little known ruling which can save the artists’ estate 5 to 6 figures in tax!. Her talk is 9:30 to 11:00am, Sunday November 1. Seating is limited.

6. Communiqué

Arteast's hard-copy, quarterly newsletter—Communiqué—is popular with our members, but did you know that it is also available on our Web site at http://arteastottawa.com/newsletter.php? A notification when a new issue is released is communicated via the weekly Arteast Digest. Posting of the Web version may be viewed in full dazzling colour, at least two weeks before the print version (black and white) is delivered by Canada Post. With rising postal costs, some members have requested that they be removed from the mailing list for the printed copy. Other advantages of going with the online Communiqué are:
- reduces printing and envelope costs;
- makes Arteast more "green";
- no more hunting for misplaced issues (Arteast's Web site has the current and all back issues).
Printed copies will be available at our monthly Grow With Art meetings and the Promenade Arteast gallery at the Shenkman Arts Centre. If you prefer to read the newsletter online, please e-mail us at editor@arteastottawa.com to have your name removed from the newsletter mailing list.

La copie imprimée du trimestriel d’Arteast – Communiqué – est populaire auprès de ses membres, mais saviez-vous qu’il est aussi disponible sur le site Web http://arteastottawa.com/newsletter.php ? Lors de sa publication, une notice paraît dans l’hebdomadaire Arteast Digest. Sur le Web il peut être lu et vu en couleurs deux semaines avant la version imprimée ( noir et blanc) postée par Poste Canada. GROW WITH ART (GWA) LEAD COORDINATOR
This person leads a team of members in organizing the monthly GWA meetings, the annual bus trip to Montreal and other activities, such as workshops, as opportunities present themselves. As lead, you will be able to influence some of Arteast's significant activities and develop contacts with the larger visual arts community. And you are never alone in doing this work. The current members of the team are all experienced and will provide excellent support to their lead. In addition, the former Lead Coordinator plans to remain with the team and will be able to guide and advise the new lead.

2. Orleans Library New Exhibition starting September 29, 2015

ORLEANS LIBRARY - EXHIBITIONS TO BEGIN AGAIN - TUESDAY, 29 SEPTEMBER 2015
Renovations at the Orleans Library, 1705 Orleans Blvd., are expected to be completed on time (24 September). Therefore, anyone wishing to hang paintings or other two-dimensional artworks at this venue, should bring their pieces to the Library on Tuesday, 29 September between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. These pieces will hang until Tuesday, 3 November 2015 and, from then on, the exhibitions will continue their customary two-month cycle.
Please be prepared to record your paintings with: Title, Medium, Size and Price along with your name, phone number and e-mail. You can bring up to 5 paintings although, depending on the total received, not all may be accepted. Paintings must be properly framed and ready for hanging. You will be asked to sign an Arteast contract and blank forms will be available.
Fifteen percent of any sale is payable to Arteast for its operational budget. When someone expresses an interest in purchasing a piece, they will be advised to contact you directly to make the transaction. We prefer to leave all works hanging for the duration of each exhibition. Neither the Library nor Arteast takes responsibility for the security of the exhibited works but reasonable care is taken to ensure their security.
Remember that these are very public areas that put your work and name before the public. Do your part to encourage people to visit the Orleans, North Gloucester and Blackburn Hamlet libraries where Arteast members exhibit on a continuing basis.

BIBLIOTHÈQUE D’ORLÉANS – LES EXPOSITIONS CONTINUENT – MARDI 29 SEPTEMBRE 2015
Les rénovations de la Bibliothèque d’Orléans, 1705 boul. Orléans, doivent être complétées à temps, soit le 24 septembre. Donc, les personnes désirant exposer leurs peintures ou autres travaux d’art en deux dimensions, doivent les apporter à la bibliothèque le mardi 29 septembre entre 10h30 et 11h30. Ces pièces seront exposées jusqu’au 3 novembre 2015 et, par la suite, les expositions continueront comme d’habitude sur une base cyclique de deux mois.
S.V.P. bien enregistrer vos peintures: titre, médium, format, prix, votre nom, no de téléphone et adresse courriel. Vous pouvez apporter jusqu’à 5 pièces, mais selon le nombre reçu, toutes ne pourront être acceptées. Les peintures doivent être prêtes pour l’accrochage. Arteast demande de compléter un contrat : formulaire disponible à compléter et à signer.
15% de chaque vente est payable à Arteast pour le budget d’opérations. Si quelqu’un désire acheter une pièce, il devra vous contacter et faire la transaction directement avec vous. Arteast préfère laisser les œuvres toute la durée de chaque exposition. La bibliothèque et Arteast ne prennent pas la responsabilité de la sécurité des œuvres exposées mais un soin raisonnable en assure la sécurité.
Se rappeler que vos œuvres sont dans un espace public. Faites un effort afin que les gens visitent vos expositions (en continuité) dans les bibliothèques d’Orléans, North Gloucester et Blackburn Hamlet.

3. Volunteers Needed for Nuit Blanche

Hello everyone,

We are still looking for Arteast members to participate in a community project to be held at the Nuit Blanche Ottawa Gatineau 2015 event. The event will take place Saturday September 19th starting at 5:30pm at the By Ward Market on George Street.  We are looking for artists to help with watercolors, with the mural and art demonstrations.
Our theme will be Night Visions with Arteast.
Activity #1: Watercolors with children, assisted by Arteast members from 5:30pm to 9pm
Activity #2: Black Light painting assisted by Arteast members from 8pm
Activity #3: Artist demos starting at 8pm

Activity #4: set up 2:30pm

Nous avons besoin d’artistes qui aiderons à l’aquarelle, à la création de murale, et feront des démonstrations.

5. Lissa Rachelle Exhibition of Paintings at Blackburn Hamlet Library

Blackburn Hamlet Library in conjunction with Arteast is proud to present an exhibition of paintings by Lissa Rachelle. This solo show is titled “What Dreams May Come” and runs from Sept 27- Nov. 27,2015 .

This show draws from Lissa’s collection of surrealistic paintings. Her painting style is playful, spontaneous and intuitive. When she paints, she opens her heart, follows her instincts and her intuition. The results are a whimsical world  where mystery prevails.
Lissa’s specialty is pencil drawing and she co-founded the international Pencil Art Society, a Canadian non-profit organization in 2012.

This is a unique opportunity for the public to enjoy, encourage and support artists in their local community as well as the Blackburn Hamlet Library.

Location: Blackburn Hamlet branch of the Ottawa Public Library, 199 Glenpark, Ottawa K1B 5B8
Hours: Monday to Thursday: 10 - 8:30, Friday: 1:00 - 6:00, Saturday: 10:00- 5:00, Sunday: closed.

6.2. Jessie Parker Featured Lecturer at ArtSchoolFair.
The only seminar/lecture as a business talk at the inaugural 2015 Art School Fair is “Money Smarts for Visual Artists” by Jessie Parker. The lecture includes some juicy critical tidbits from her eBook series plus some surprising bonuses about artist estate issues. One bonus is about the new legislation just in effect for the first time this year. The other bonus about a little known ruling which can save the artists’ estate 5 to 6 figures in tax!. Her talk is 9:30 to 11:00am, Sunday November 1. Seating is limited.

The rest of the demos and workshops are about various painting and drawing media , techniques, and subjects. Also there will be exhibits of various art supply companies, and some arts organizations. The dates are Saturday,Oct. 31,10am -5pm,and Sunday, Nov.1, 9am-5pm

Arteast's hard-copy, quarterly newsletter—Communiqué—is popular with our members, but did you know that it is also available on our Web site at http://arteastottawa.com/newsletter.php? A notification when a new issue is released is communicated via the weekly Arteast Digest. Posting of the Web version may be viewed in full dazzling colour, at least two weeks before the print version (black and white) is delivered by Canada Post. With rising postal costs, some members have requested that they be removed from the mailing list for the printed copy. Other advantages of going with the online Communiqué are:
- reduces printing and envelope costs;
- makes Arteast more "green";
- no more hunting for misplaced issues (Arteast's Web site has the current and all back issues).
Printed copies will be available at our monthly Grow With Art meetings and the Promenade Arteast gallery at the Shenkman Arts Centre. If you prefer to read the newsletter online, please e-mail us at editor@arteastottawa.com to have your name removed from the newsletter mailing list.

1. Arteast Volunteers Needed

MAKE ARTEAST WORK FOR YOU BY WORKING FOR ARTEAST

Arteast is run solely by volunteers, members like you who contribute a little of their time to ensure that the organization can provide its many programs and run its exhibition venues. Without the help of its members in volunteer roles, Arteast would not be the dynamic organization it is. Don't forget that, by volunteering, you are not simply working for other members, you are working for yourself and making Arteast work for you. Make Arteast work for you by becoming a volunteer.
I am pleased to announce that Lore Organ has agreed to take on the role of Secretary. Many thanks to Lore for stepping forward.

GROW WITH ART (GWA) LEAD COORDINATOR
This person leads a team of members in organizing the monthly GWA meetings, the annual bus trip to Montreal and other activities, such as workshops, as opportunities present themselves. As lead, you will be able to influence some of Arteast's significant activities and develop contacts with the larger visual arts community. And you are never alone in doing this work. The current members of the team are all experienced and will provide excellent support to their lead. In addition, the former Lead Coordinator plans to remain with the team and will be able to guide and advise the new lead.
FUTURE NEED FOR VOLUNTEER - VICE PRESIDENT
Arteast needs a member to step forward to take on the role of Vice President in January 2016. You can make an important contribution to your organization and help shape Arteast's future by joining the Executive in this capacity. The key purpose of the VP is to support the President and assist that person with their duties. It is not essential to have professional experience as an executive or a manager but you should have organizational skills, good judgement and common sense....attributes that we all develop from life's experiences. You have what it takes and your organization needs you for VP.

Cette personne est responsable d’un groupe de membres à l’organisation mensuelle de GWA, du voyage en autobus annuel à Montréal et autres activités, tel que : les ateliers. Comme responsable, elle aura une influence sur des activités de l’association et pourra développer des contacts dans le milieu des arts visuels de la communauté. Et vous ne travaillez pas seule, puisque les membres du groupe actuel ont de l’expérience et seront d’un excellent support. Et, la responsable sortante sera dans le groupe et pourra aider la nouvelle coordonnatrice dans son nouveau rôle.
Besoin de bénévole à titre de Vice-Présidente ou V.-Président
Pour janvier 2016, Arteast a besoin d’un membre pour occuper la fonction de Vice-Présidente ou V.-Président. Vous pouvez être d’une grande contribution à votre association en vous joignant à l’Exécutif d’Arteast. Les fonctions clés du VP sont d’aider la Présidente et de l’assister dans ses responsabilités. Il n’est pas nécessaire d’avoir une formation professionnelle comme exécutif ou en gestion mais d’avoir des aptitudes d’organisation et d’un bon jugement… qualités que vous avez développées tout au cours de vos expériences de vie. Vous avez ce qu’il faut et votre association a besoin de vous comme VP.

2. Change of Art at North Gloucester Library September 8, 2015


On TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2015:

Please retrieve the works that have been hanging for the past two months and/or bring in new paintings (or other two dimensional art) for the North Gloucester Library, 2036 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa, K1J 7N8.
 The changeover is between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30.a.m.
 
These new pieces will be hung for two months.
The next change-over will be on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2015.

If you are interested in exhibiting, an advance email, on or before MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2015, to Christine Gendron, christinegendron@sympatico.ca, indicating the number of works and their sizes, would be helpful. Or, just show up at the date, but risk being turned away.

Please be prepared to record your paintings with: Title, Medium, Size, and Price along with your name, phone number and e-mail.  You can bring up to 3 paintings although, depending on the total number received, not all may be accepted.  North Gloucester Library can accommodate 20 paintings. Paintings must be ready for hanging, with appropriate framing and hardware to Arteast standards. Those who are bringing in a painting for the first time this year must sign an Arteast contract form.  Blank contracts will be available at the library. 
Fifteen percent (15%) of any sale is payable to Arteast for its operational budget.

When someone shows an interest in purchasing a piece, they will be advised to contact you directly to make the transaction.  We prefer to leave all works hanging for the duration of each exhibition.  If you must remove your work prior to the next change-over, please notify the appropriate coordinator, so the Librarian can be advised and take note of the authorized removal.  Neither the Library nor Arteast takes responsibility for the security of works exhibited but reasonable care is taken to ensure their security.  Remember that these are very public areas that put your work and name before the public.  Do your part to encourage people to visit the North Gloucester, Orleans, Blackburn Hamlet, and Ray Friel branches where Arteast members exhibit on a continuing basis.

3. Volunteers Needed for Nuit Blanche

Hello everyone,

We are still looking for Arteast members to participate in a community project to be held at the Nuit Blanche Ottawa Gatineau 2015 event. The event will take place Saturday September 19th starting at 5:30pm at the By Ward Market on George Street.  We are looking for artists to help with watercolors, with the mural and art demonstrations.
Our theme will be Night Visions with Arteast.
Activity #1: Watercolors with children, assisted by Arteast members from 5:30pm to 9pm
Activity #2: Black Light painting assisted by Arteast members from 8pm
Activity #3: Artist demos starting at 8pm

4. Call for Artists -  Blackburn Hamlet Library Gallery Needs Your Art!

Blackburn Library Shows Arteast artist solo shows on a bi-monthly basis. We book way ahead and this venue is very popular.

The space allows for 12 works of art of various sizes from small to medium-large.

Submissions for solo shows at Blackburn should include:
·        Your contact info (Name, address, email, phone)
·        Short bio and artist statement pertinent to your intended show. One page is sufficient.
·        Description of intended theme/medium
·        At least 3 to 5 images typical of the type of work you intend to show., 800 ppi longest side, jpeg.
·        Preferred time of year, if you have a preference (will accommodate if possible)
It is not necessary to have a title planned, nor an exact set of images at this time. Lots of time to work that out later.

Preference will be given to Arteast artists who have NOT shown at Blackburn since late 2013.

Dates available for 2016: April/May, June/July, August/Sept., Oct/Nov.

Kerstin Peters' Solo Exhibition

Kerstin Peters has a new solo exhibition Tyros Shawarma Lebanese Restaurant at 5929 Jeanne d'Arc Boulevard South, Orléans, ON K1C 6V8. The exhibition is called "Indian Summer in Canada" and runs until November 6, 2015.

You will be able to see a nice mix of my acrylic and oil paintings celebrating the Canadian fall. Please mark your calendar for the vernissage on September 27, 2015 from 2pm to 4pm.

Glebe Fine Art Show

Several Arteast members are participating in the 10th Annual Glebe Fine Art Show on Saturday September19th and Sunday September 20th, from 10 am to 4:30 pm. This event will be held at the Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Street, Ottawa. Admission is free.

CALL FOR MEMBERS – CITY OF OTTAWA YOUTH IN CULTURE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The City of Ottawa’s Cultural Funding Support Section (CFSS) is looking for individuals to sit on a newly created Youth in Culture Advisory Committee, to assist in the development and implementation of the City’s new Youth in Culture Pilot Program (YCPP).

YCPP aims to directly support youth (aged 18 – 25) by allocating funding grants, through an application and assessment process that is quick and easy to access, in order to address time-sensitive opportunities in obtaining professional training opportunities, internships, apprenticeships, work placements, and/or other professional development opportunities within the artistic, heritage, and cultural sectors.

The Youth in Culture Advisory Committee seeks individuals active in Ottawa’s local cultural communities, and who recognize the importance of cultural training to “Nurture and Empower Ottawa’s Youth” (as outlined in the City of Ottawa’s Renewed Action Plan for Arts, Heritage and Culture.)

The Committee’s principle duties include:
·        To provide insight into issues facing youth; current practices; forms of communication; youth organizations and initiatives; gaps and needs related to training
·        To participate in the development and evaluation of the Youth in Culture Pilot Program
·        To get the word out to the community about YCPP
·        To review and assess YCPP funding applications (on a rotating basis), and to determine funding allocations
·        To attend scheduled jury meetings (review all related documents in advance of meetings)
·        To attend meetings as needed
  • To work together in a spirit of collaboration and with respect for the assessment process , the views of other Committee members and staff, and City of Ottawa procedural requirements

A certain level of time commitment is expected, and fees will be paid by the City of Ottawa for participation.

Key principles of the committee composition include balanced representation of artistic practice, heritage specialization, and festival/fair expertise as well as fair representation of official languages, gender, geographic areas, and culture-specific communities. As such, we are seeking individuals between the ages of 17 and 35 who identify with one or more of the following communities:

·        Dance, visual arts, theatre, music, film/video, literary arts/spoken word, heritage and festival/fairs
·        Arts and heritage administrators/organizers/volunteers
·        Student government and business entrepreneurs
·        First Nations/Métis/Inuit
·        Francophone
·        Minority communities
·        Rural and suburban

All committee members must live within 150km of Ottawa.

Interested individuals are encouraged to submit a resume or letter of intent to Infoculture@ottawa.ca by September 25, 2015.

Additionally, an information session will be held on September 29, 2015 from 7 to 9 p.m. at City Hall (in the Honeywell Room).

APPEL DE CANDIDATURES –  COMITÉ CONSUTATIF SUR LES JEUNES ET LA CULTURE

La Section du soutien au financement culturel de la Ville d’Ottawa cherche des personnes intéressées à œuvrer au sein du nouveau Comité consultatif sur les jeunes et la culture dans le cadre de l’élaboration et de la mise en œuvre du programme pilote Les jeunes et la culture.

Le programme pilote Les jeunes et la culture se veut un soutien direct aux jeunes (de 18 à 25 ans) sous forme de subventions allouées d’après un processus de demande à la fois simple et facile d’accès; on souhaite ainsi permettre aux jeunes de profiter des occasions ponctuelles de formation professionnelle, de stage, d’apprentissage, de placement professionnel ou de perfectionnement qui se présentent dans les milieux artistique, patrimonial, et culturel.

Le Comité consultatif sur les jeunes et la culture cherche des personnes actives dans le milieu artistique local qui comprennent que la formation culturelle est nécessaire si l’on veut « veiller à l’épanouissement de la jeunesse d’Ottawa et lui donner des moyens de se faire entendre » (tel qu’établi dans le Plan d’action renouvelé pour les arts, le patrimoine et la culture de la Ville d’Ottawa).

Les principales tâches des membres du Comité sont les suivantes :
·        Fournir leur point de vue sur les questions liées aux jeunes, les pratiques actuelles, les formes de communication, les organismes et initiatives jeunesse, ainsi que les lacunes et besoins en matière de formation.
·        Participer à l’établissement et à l’évaluation du programme pilote Les jeunes et la culture.
·        Faire connaître le programme pilote dans la collectivité.
·        Évaluer les demandes de subvention (en alternance) et établir celles qui seront retenues.
·        Assister aux réunions du jury (consulter tous les documents nécessaires au préalable).
·        Assister à des réunions, au besoin.
  • Travailler dans un esprit de collaboration et dans le respect du processus d’évaluation, du personnel, du point de vue des autres membres du Comité et des exigences administratives de la Ville d’Ottawa.

On s’attend à ce que la personne consacre un certain temps à son rôle, et la Ville d’Ottawa lui versera une rémunération pour sa participation.

Parmi les principes essentiels de la composition du comité, mentionnons une représentation équilibrée des diverses pratiques artistiques et spécialisations patrimoniales, festivals et foires, ainsi qu’une représentation équitable des langues officielles, genres, secteurs géographiques et communautés culturelles. De plus, une session d’information aura lieu le 29 septembre 2015 à l’hôtel de ville de 19 h à 21 h (dans la salle Honeywell).


9. Paint the Town! 


The Kingston School of Art is hosting its 3rd annual weekend of plein air art creation in Sydenham Ward - Kingston’s newest heritage conservation district -
in conjunction with the International Plein Air Painters Organization's
Great WORLDWIDE Artist Paint Out.  

Artists are invited to paint or sketch outdoors in this historical area, with an emphasis on sites associated with Sir John A. Macdonald, in this his 200th birthday year. 

Information, rest and refreshments (and rain shelter) will be available at Sydenham Street United Church hall. 

The event takes place on Fri/Sat/Sun September 11, 12 and 13 and concludes with an exhibition of the work created during the weekend and a wine and cheese reception.
